The practice was founded by Dr. Philip E. Shipper, a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1944.

Dr. Shipper established one of the more successful practices on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. He was one of the pioneers in the use of nitrous oxide sedation in the treatment of patients, lessening the anxiety that many patients experience with dental treatment.

In 1976, Dr. David M. Shipper, also a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and son of Dr. Philip Shipper, joined his father in practice. Dr. David Shipper helped the practice expand and flourish. He has maintained the highest quality of care for more than 30 years.

In 1999, Dr. Philip Shipper's grandson (as well as Dr. David Shipper's nephew), Dr. Howard J. Vogel, joined the practice. Dr. Vogel, a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, brings the most recent advances in dentistry to the forefront and has helped continue a rich history of 60+ years into the new millennium.

Unfortunately, Dr. Philip Shipper is no longer with us. However, he instilled the highest values in his son, Dr. David Shipper, and his grandson, Dr. Howard Vogel, which contribute to the continued success of one of the most highly regarded dental practices in Manhattan.
